PUZZLES BY TRIP PAYNE |

UPCOMING PUZZLE EXTRAVAGANZA CONTEST! I am planning a collection of puzzles to come out in the first half of 2012. It will consist of 12 puzzles plus a "metapuzzle" tying the other puzzles' answers together to create a final question for the solver. Solvers who submit the correct answer to that question before the deadline will be entered into a random drawing for the grand prize. If this contest sounds like fun to you, please go to its page on Kickstarter and sign up! You can read about the contest in more detail there, as well as see what you would receive at the various funding levels. (After January 31, I will set it up so that you can enter via this website.) I will begin work on the puzzles very soon. Thanks in advance for your support; I think it's going to be a lot of fun. |

Welcome to Triple Play Puzzles! Feel free to email me with any comments you might have about the puzzles, site contents, or anything else. — Trip |
"Something Different #4", a 21x21 variety crossword originally published in the June 1992 issue of "Tough Puzzles", has been added; download the PDF or the AcrossLite file, and get an explanation of the type here. November 30, 2011 A new 19x19 themed crossword, "Not in the Write Frame of Mind", has been added. Download the AcrossLite file or the PDF. October 27, 2011 We're back! Just added: "Minefield", a variety cryptic originally from the November 1994 issue of "Tough Cryptics". If you're somewhat new to variety cryptics, you might want to give it a shot; the cluing is fairly straightforward. Download the PDF. The full set of back issues of "Tough Cryptics" is digitally available from its original editor and publisher, Stanley Newman; e-mail him at StanXwords@aol.com for more information. July 16, 2011 A small-sized variety cryptic, "Blankety Blankety Blank", has been added; download the PDF. If you enjoy cryptics but have always felt a little intimidated by variety cryptics, try this one; it's small and has a fairly straightforward gimmick, and is largely intended for solvers like you. Originally from the 2011 National Puzzlers' League convention in Providence, Rhode Island. June 20, 2011 A new puzzle, "Rows Garden #3", has been added (as always, thanks to Patrick Berry for allowing me to use his puzzle type); download the PDF, and get an explanation of the puzzle type here. |
